Safety Studies
One of the core function of AAIB as per Rule 8 (3) (e), is to formulate safety
recommendation on the basis of safety studies, including induction of new technology to
enhance safety, conducted from time to time.
AAIB maintains Safety Database of accidents and serious incidents, and provides the same for
inclusion in safety data being maintained by the
Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The Safety Database is exchanged with DGCA on
a
regular basis. The information from this Safety Database in addition to data from occurrence
reporting, observations from Investigation Reports or other sources may be used by AAIB to
conduct research, data analysis, and trend analysis to
address any Safety Issues by means of Safety Studies.
AAIB shall forward the recommendations made in Safety
Studies to DGCA and other regulatory authorities for their follow up and to obtain
compliance of the same.
